Dear Families,

                                “Deep within all new beginnings,
there breathes a song of hope.”    ~Flavia

My appointment as principal of Roberta MacAdams School is a tremendous honour and a dream come true. The opportunity to vision and build a school from its very beginnings, with the input of a dedicated community of people, is a beautiful gift that holds great promise for all involved. I am so excited to meet all of you in the days, weeks and months ahead!

Registration Update:

Registrations continue to be accepted for students living in the school's attendance area who have not pre-enrolled at another school. For more information, contact Karen Keats Whelan, Principal, by email at robertamacadams@epsb.ca or phone 587-489-4700.

If your child is new to Edmonton Public Schools, you can find out about registration here.

On March 4 I toured the new school for the first time. You can check out the construction photos below.

Principal's Message

Karen Keats WhelanReading Debbie Marshall’s compelling biography of Roberta MacAdams, Give Your Other Vote to the Sister, deepened the tremendous sense of responsibility I feel toward leading this school community. Roberta MacAdams  exemplified service to others through her courage, commitment, compassion and deep appreciation of the value of community. Her contributions are a  significant part of our identity and history in Alberta, and I am forever grateful  to Debbie Marshall for “reclaiming the life” of an ordinary Canadian woman  “who stepped out and did something extraordinary.”

           Courage      Commitment      Compassion      Community

As principal of Roberta MacAdams School, I come to your community as both a mother of two boys and as a dedicated educator. I have always been profoundly aware of the trust and faith parents and caregivers place in the school and in those who care for their children. Please know that your child will always be at the heart of our “shared work” at Roberta MacAdams School.  I look forward to our “new beginnings” on this shared journey and the unimaginable possibilities this inspires!

Karen Keats Whelan, Ph.D.

“Child, give me your hand
That I may walk in the light
Of your faith in me.”
